Dear Friends:

As the Children’s Oncology Group celebrates its 25th anniversary, we need you now more than ever.

If you are a physician, nurse, pharmacist, or other professional who provides care at a COG member institution, we need you.  If you are a researcher seeking to develop new therapies to increase survival and reduce side effects, we need you.  If you are a parent, family member, or community supporter of someone affected by pediatric cancer, we need you.  To improve the outcomes for children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer, COG needs all of you and we need each other.

As leaders of COG, we are indebted to our dedicated donors who help us take on the greatest challenges of this disease. Philanthropic gifts to the COG Foundation are essential to support our research projects for every type of pediatric cancer.  In this uncertain time of federal support for research, your philanthropic gifts are more important than ever before.

Your collective generosity reaches across the more than 220 institutions in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Saudi Arabia.  With your help, we will be relentless in pursuing patient-centered research that increases survival rates while reducing short-term side effects and long-term complications of treatment for all children.

We know that many of you give because pediatric cancer has impacted you personally.  With every gift you make to the COG Foundation, we honor those children, adolescents, and young adults.  Thank you for being a member of our COG community and for speaking up for those touched by pediatric cancer, many of whom cannot speak for themselves.

Together, we will achieve our shared vision where no child or adolescent dies of cancer and where survivors live healthy, fulfilling lives.

2024/2025 Summary of program Expenditures

The Children's Oncology Group Foundation enables COG's leadership,
comprised of a team of doctors, nurses, laboratory scientists and other allied professionals,
the ability to direct the resources raised for childhood cancer research to the areas of highest need and opportunity.
Program expenses by type
What is this and why is it important?
Amount allocated during current year
COG Member Site Clinical Trial Support Payments
Fixed payments to COG member sites based on enrollment levels of clinical trials.  This funding allows COG sites to hire and maintain staff and offset the cost of carrying out numerous complex clinical trials.
$5,474,378
Grants to COG Research Foundation, LLC
COG Research Foundation, LLC is a separate entity that was founded in 2024 to become the federal grantee organization for COG starting in early 2026.  Support from The Children's Oncology Group Foundation, which will continue to operate as the philanthropic arm of COG, has helped to offset the initial operating costs during this transition.
$1,232,000
Investigator-Initiated Research Grants
Grants that typically range from $50,000 - $100,000 per year and focus on a specific sub-type of childhood cancer.  These grants can help advance translational research, correlative research, or fund secondary aims of clinical trials when federal funding is unavailable.
